7.30pm: Eucharist of the Last Supper with foot washing followed by the stripping of the altar
9.00pm – Midnight: ‘The Maundy Watch’ – a vigil of silent prayer

Maundy Thursday is a dramatic celebration of the Eucharist of the Last Supper begins in festive mood and ends in darkness and anguish as the Christ goes out into the night to confront the reality of his sacrificial vocation. On the night of the new commandment, as the feet are washed and the bread is broken Christians are called to model their lives on the actions of the one who commands them to do this in memory of him. Many would say that this liturgy is one of the most moving of all the liturgies of the Triduum. We follow the service with a candlelit vigil in the Lady Chapel until midnight.

Friday 30th March: Good Friday

8.45am: The Liturgy of the Sacrament
9.00am: Morning Prayer with Litany
10.00am: All Age Worship – followed by Hot Cross Buns
12.00pm – 2.00pm: Stations of the Cross
2.00pm – 3.00pm: The Good Friday Liturgy

It is not customary to celebrate the Eucharist on Good Friday; to do so would draw attention away from the prime focus of the liturgy – the cross, but it is appropriate to consume the sacrament reserved from the previous night. Before Morning Prayer we will have the ‘Liturgy of the Sacrament’ where there will be a short service to prayerfully consume the reserved sacrament. Morning prayer will include the Litany. Later that day we will have the opportunity to set aside three hours to be with our Lord, finishing with the Liturgy of Good Friday.

Flower Festival
Oct 6 @ 10:30 am – Oct 7 @ 6:30 pm

It no doubt seems a long time ahead, but we are holding a Flower Festival over the Harvest weekend, 6th & 7th October.

This is not just an opportunity for the flower arrangers to ‘do their thing,’ but for everybody to ve involved in some way. Yes, anyone who can arrange flowers will be needed, but the success of this venture will lie with us all — in inviting friends, family, neighbours along, and not only inviting them but coming with them.

This is an opportunity to bring people who do not normally attend St Leonard’s along to meet our friendly and inclusive congregation, and in coming into church we pray that they may find something of God’s love for them.
There will be plenty to come along to—the current plan is as follows:

Saturday 6th October: Church open with light refreshments, lunches and teas, from 10.30am to 5.00pm.
A concert by Lexden Choral Society, with audience participation, at 7.30pm. (To be confirmed)

Sunday 7th October: Our All Age Harvest Thanksgiving at 9.45am.
Church open again at 2.00pm, with teas being served until 5.00pm, when there will be a Harvest Songs of Praise.

More details, and what you could do to help, in subsequent magazines.
