The Parish church of St Leonard, Lexden, Colchester Welcome to St Leonard’s website. We
do hope that you will enjoy our website and that you would like to visit us.
Please use the buttons at the top of the page to explore it; (If you are unable to see the menu at the top of this page,
St Leonard’s is a lively Anglican church in the Liberal Catholic tradition of the Church of England. Our aim is to be an inclusive parish church, where Christians of many traditions can feel welcome. We hope, too, that those who are ‘seekers’, and curious to question and explore the faith, will feel welcome and accepted among us. Our ministry to the wider parish is important; and we strive to serve the local community of Lexden, and to be open and welcoming to those asking for baptism, marriage and funerals. Because of the way the parish system works, if you are resident in our parish you are entitled to be baptised, married (for the first time) or have your funeral in our church. We consider that church, and the services we provide, is not a ‘members only’ club – but open to and available to everyone who needs it. The Parochial (Parish) system means we have a duty of care for, and service to, everyone (yes – everyone) in our parish. We have a variety of different sorts of services from 1662 Prayer Book to Holy Commotion (Messy Church for 0 to 90 year olds!) but our main Sunday service is a traditional sung Eucharist with a robed choir. We have a thriving Junior Church and we think (and hope) we provide well for our families with young children. If you are a newcomer to the parish, or if you have any questions, please make yourself known to the clergy or the churchwardens at any service or please get in touch with the priest in charge, Revd Teresa Wynne (use the ‘contact us’ button at the top of the page.) If you have any Prayer Requests then please feel free to submit them via the menu heading. Coming soon at St Leonard’s – more details in the Magazine Ash Wednesday 22nd February. 10am and 7.30pm - Eucharist with the imposition of ashes.
However,
it is difficult to convey the vitality of a church following the living
Christ on the pages of a website, so please feel free to come and visit us.
You will be assured of a warm welcome.
